SFA Symposium - A Trip To Taylor Grocery

I look forward to this meal every year. While the Southern Foodways Alliance Symposium has a different theme every year (this year was music and food), there are always a few constants - the Friday night trek to Taylor Grocery being one of them. There's no better catfish in the world than at this little shack out in the country in Taylor, Mississippi.
Beer was provided by our friends from Fullsteam Brewery in Durham, North Carolina...they had some interesting 'plow to pint' beers on tap:Music provided by Jason Ringenberg of Jason & The Scorchers fame:

B.B. King Museum - Indianola, MS

As a warm-up for the Southern Foodways Alliance Symposium in oxford, we made a stop in Greenwood to eat tamales and in Indianola, to visit Club Ebony, an old-school juke joint. We also visited the B.B. King museum, where we got our fill of beautiful type specimens:

Matchbook Design

We're always trying to convince clients to let us design matches when we're working on a new brand...looks like they're coming back into fashion. See here for a nice piece from the New york Times. The photo below is apparently from the 'Danny Meyer restaurants' section of our collection.

Cheeseburger At The Bean Pot - Crossville, TN

Behold the cheeseburger from The Bean Pot, on that long stretch of I-40 between Nashville and Knoxville. Country ham was top-notch, too. We'll be stopping here again soon, hopefully on a Monday for the fried chicken special.Country ham:

City House - Nashville, TN

City House gets better every time we go...the Sunday Supper this week featured an entire menu section of 'Pork Snacks' - the crispy ears and the heart were the way to go. Cannellini bean pizza was another highlight...

Menu Design

I like the design of the new menu at Fox Bros. BBQ in Atlanta...it's approaching the craziness of the world's most insane menu at Shopsin's...

Antico Pizza Napoletana - Atlanta, GA

Yet another worthy addition to the Westside dining scene...Antico has been open about a week, and we had a great Margherita pie there yesterday. I believe they make theirs according to the rules set by the Pizza Police (or, here's their official link). We finally have great pizza by the office...set up your next meeting with us around lunchtime if you want to give it a try...
