Moto Bene - Wood-Fired Pizza From A Truck In Atlanta

I don't think pizza from a pull-behind oven is supposed to be this good. I suppose we shouldn't be too surprised - Moto Bene is the latest endeavor from Dan Latham, formerly of Oxford's much-missed L&M restaurant. It's basically a big wood-fired oven on wheels:
They're often set up at local farmers markets, with the ingredients coming straight from the vendors. Today's offerings included four pies. Clockwise from the top were:
Three Cheese;
Grass-fed Beef, Arugula & Spring Onion;
Bacon, Spring Onion & Bok Choi;
Turnip, Asparagus & Arugula
I was shocked at the quality that they're able to achieve from this little setup. Looking forward to whenever they pop up next...

Bacon Tasting With Ari Weinzweig

Last night we met up with our man Ari Weinzweig of Zingerman's for a bacon tasting at Holeman & Finch. He talked a bit about his bacon book, which everybody should own. But the real highlight was the bacon flight:Left to right, the bacons were:
Benton's - the smoky, salty, fatty powerhouse;
Edwards - the porkiest of the bunch, tasted just like pig;
H&F House Bacon - a great all-purpose meat;
H&F Lamb - very lamb-y;
Meacham - sweeter and more mild than the others;
H&F Pancetta - almost as porky as the Edwards.

Macon Road BBQ - Columbus, GA

I still made room for some BBQ after the Scramble Dog - big thanks to Columbus native David Cone for recommending this out-of-the-way BBQ shack...great pork sandwich.

Dinglewood Pharmacy - Columbus, GA

When I asked around about where to eat in Columbus, Georgia, the response was unanimously 'Dinglewood Pharmacy.' I got what seems to be the local delicacy, a Scramble Dog. Basically a chopped-up hot dog swimming in a plate of chili, American cheese, onions and oyster crackers.
