Bacon Of The Month - October

This month's is one of the best yet - Nodine's Smokehouse 10 Clove Garlic Bacon, from Torrington, Connecticut. "Could be the greatest BLT bacon ever. Thick cut, meaty and lovely, subtle garlic flavor, aromatic and intense." Aromatic, indeed - it made the whole office smell like a barbecue pit...even more than usual.

Behold the Edwards Cinnamon Apple Bacon from Edwards Hams in Surry, Virginia. According to the Grateful Palate: "A beginner's bacon, but charming and sweet in both meanings of the word. This is the bacon that will make you feel like it's the first time. Infused with apple flavors and coated with a bit of cinnamon. Great for those like me who like the simple things in life and aren't ashamed to say it."

Today's Bacon Of The Month club shipment came today - Swiss Meats Sugar Cured Cottage Bacon from Missouri. According to Grateful Palate: "Thin, crunchy, pork chop flavor. Fries nicely. Great beginning for a bacon-y pork sandwich with lots of fixings." We'll see...check back soon for a BLT report and photos.

Bacon Of The Month - July / Plus A Bonus Cheese

Our July shipment from the Bacon of the Month club came today - a pound of Scott's Country Bacon, from Greenville, KY. See here for all you need to know. We also picked up another quality Kentucky product this weekend at the Franklin Farmer's Market, a fantastic Colby from Kenny's Cheese in Austin, KY. I believe bacon cheeseburgers'll be on the menu this week at the office. Drop us an email if you want to come by for lunch.

Bacon Of The Month Club - May & June

We're heading into month four of our membership in the Bacon Of The Month Club - May featured a pound from the Loveless Cafe, while June's is from New Braunfels Smokehouse. That one just came today, so we haven't had a chance to cook any yet. But according to the Grateful Palate website: "Medium cut, meaty, hammy, awesome balance of sweetness and salt, a classic breakfast bacon. Slight hint of maple and caramel flavors. Mmmmmm. State of Origin: Texas." Breakfast at GOM headquarters tomorrow morning.

This month's shipment from the Bacon Of The Month club came today - a pound of J. Samuel Whiting Hickory Bacon, from Pennsylvania. According to the Grateful Palate:
"Sweet aroma, thin and crunchy. Perfect balance like a fine cut diamond. Sweet and powerful, almost fruity. Addictive, soft, lush, judicious use of fat and sublimely balanced. AWESOME and hedonistic. Very unique, sweet, yet savory bacon. Kids love all bacon, but they will especially love this bacon made by J. Samuel Whiting Meats in Pennsylvania."

Bacon Of The Month Club - March

Our friend Ben was kind enough to sign us up for the Bacon Of The Month club, and our first shipment came in today. A pound of Burgers' Pepper Country Bacon showed up at the office, and was immediately cooked & devoured. The Grateful Palate describes it as well as I can - "sweet, chewy, tantalizing interplay of pepper with sugar-cured sweetness. Great with scrambled eggs." Indeed.
